Safety Instructions

Fireworks are explosives. Every product we sell is safe when used as directed and dangerous when it is not. Please read this page before you light anything.

Before you begin

  • Buy only from licensed sellers and keep products in their original packaging until use.
  • Store crackers in a cool, dry place away from heat, flame, and electrical fittings.
  • Read the instructions printed on each label — different items need different clearances.
  • Keep a bucket of water or sand and a working torch within reach.

While lighting

  • Light one item at a time, at arm’s length, and move well back immediately.
  • Use a sparkler or agarbatti to light — never a match held close to the fuse.
  • Always light fireworks outdoors, on a flat open surface, away from vehicles, dry leaves and buildings.
  • Never lean over a firework, and never hold a lit item in your hand unless the label says it is a handheld product.
  • Wear cotton clothing. Loose synthetic fabric catches fire easily.

Children

  • Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
  • Give young children only the items intended for them — sparklers and ground items — and keep aerial shots, bombs and rockets for adults.
  • Teach children to hold sparklers away from the body and to drop spent sparklers into water.

If something goes wrong

  • Never return to a firework that has failed to light. Wait at least 15 minutes, then soak it in water.
  • For a minor burn, cool the area under running water for at least 10 minutes and seek medical help.
  • For eye injuries, do not rub. Go to a hospital immediately.

Afterwards

  • Soak all spent fireworks in water before disposal.
  • Do not put fireworks debris in with household waste until it is thoroughly wet.
  • Respect quiet hours and neighbours, and keep pets indoors during celebrations.

Follow all applicable local regulations and any restrictions in force in your area.
